I know that the focus is mostly on Hokuto and Nanto right now, but Hoshino has quickly become my favorite character in this mess. His checkered jacket looks more like hipster flannel in a lot of shots which gives him an unintentional slacker kind of look, and he's always got the most insane, completely ridiculous theories.

I agonized for a long time over how to make the right "grilled dick" pun (in the original the punchline is "rare animal"), but in the end I couldn't come up something that I liked. Hopefully that'll be completely overshadowed by the big news revealed at the end of the chapter.

Well, now every single series I'm translating has made at least some reference to mahjong. I didn't plan this, I swear. Also you'll have to forgive me for completely butchering the Sukeban Deka reference, I've never even read the series, let alone watched the live action series. This chapter was honestly quite tough since it was chock-full of cultural references I hadn't seen before, so I just did my best as usual.

03/19/2018 EDIT: I just found out that Kisaragi is a character from Raika Days, so I get to wrangle with her speech patterns sometime in the future... Also since it's a full-on crossover I added a Raika Days tag.

Whew, this chapter was crazy. They go through so many holiday traditions that a complete list of translation notes would probably be longer than the chapter itself. As I've said before, I didn't expect this series to be so steeped in Japanese culture, but I'm doing my best.
