They may refer to it as luck all the time, but really it's the same old concept of "flow" that you'll see in every other mahjong manga. I wonder if that was just in vogue at the time, or if this manga is just an outlier.

Edit: You can get volume 1 here. Changes from the individual chapters include replacing the small credits at the start of chapters with a big credit on the blank page and improving some of the typesetting (mostly the handwriting fonts). This chapter was much harder to translate than normal... Too many cultural references and puns.

In other news, the first viable batoto replacement site has arrived. It's called MangaDex, and I've already made an account and uploaded all the chapters I've done. I even fixed some typos and errors, so it's actually the definitive version until I release the compiled volumes. I'm definitely rooting for their success, and hopefully the more aggregate-inclined readers will like it too.

I initially made this blog very plain and austere because I knew that I could just upload things to batoto and gain a readership, but now that they're shutting down I'm going to put in some effort to increase the visibility of these translations. Things like including a credit with a link to the blog at the beginning of chapters, making a Twitter account, and sprucing the blog up so it's more appealing. We'll see how it turns out (though I'm sure that a replacement site will pop up quickly).
